 MOVING AHEAD was founded in 1983, with one truck, a small office, and one goal: to provide the best service to our customers at the fairest possible price. More than 100,000 satisfied customers later, we now operate a fleet of 17 trucks and maintain a private storage warehouse of over 25,000 square feet.

John Tarko, President and founder of MOVING AHEAD to this day personally oversees the day to day operation, ensuring top quality performance on each and every move. This attention to detail has helped MOVING AHEAD become one of the largest moving companies on Long Island. Mr. Tarko also serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Long Island Moving and Storage Association (LIMSA).

Through such trade organizations as the Long Island Moving and Storage Association (www.limsa.com), and the New York State Warehouseman’s Association, MOVING AHEAD works diligently to promote reputable, licensed movers and to help expose the fraudulent, unlicensed, and often uninsured companies that give our whole industry a bad name. This let’s the customer hear and see for themselves the reputation of the mover.
